Important blood values

First of all, we will look at which values would be truly interesting/relevant in the first instance. We recommend, if possible, requesting at least these values from your doctor or directly at the laboratory.

Thyroid values

fT3
– Your „energy hormone“

fT4
- (Storage hormone) is produced in the thyroid gland and converted to fT3 as needed, e.g. in the liver

TSH
– sends a kind of „demand notification“ to the thyroid gland, indicating how much thyroid hormone is currently needed in the body.

Antibody
– MAK (or TPO-AK, microsomal AK) → indicates Hashimoto's activity
– TAK (TG-AK, Thyroglobulin antibodies) → elevated in thyroid diseases
TRAK (TSH receptor antibodies) → elevated in Graves' disease

Relevant values

LIVER VALUES:
– GPT, GOT, Gamma GT, LDL, HDL, Cholesterol

KIDNEY VALUES:
– Uric acid, (urea), creatinine, GFR

Blood sugar
– Glucose (fasting morning decrease) is a snapshot
– HbA1 and HbA1c are the long-term values

INFLAMMATION VALUES:
C-reactive protein
– hsCRP (high sensitivity CRP)
– Leukocytes (white blood cells) = important for immune defense

(These values should always be within the laboratory's normal range)

VITAMINS & NUTRIENTS:
– Vitamin D 25-OH
– Vitamin B12
– Ferritin (iron storage value)

From the values, further conclusions can be drawn about any existing defects.

Evaluation of the results

This information refers to our value calculator and serves only as a guide – your well-being always comes before blood test results!!

  • Over 60% = early signs of hyperfunction (the higher the value, the more severe the condition)
  • below 50% = early signs of hypothyroidism (the lower the value, the more severe the condition; negative values are also possible)
  • fT3 levels more than 10% lower than fT4 = conversion deficiency (the higher the value, the more severe the condition)
  • fT3 levels more than 10% higher than fT4 = reactive fT3, i.e., non-functional fT3 (the higher the level, the more severe the condition)

 

Please note that we do not use the laboratory's reference values in the calculator. On the one hand, these differ from laboratory to laboratory, and it is often possible that you get a different result each time. On the other hand, in our experience, laboratory values for the thyroid have very little to do with women's well-being.

The reference values here are as follows:

  • FT3: 3.0 – 4.5 pg/mL
  • FT3: 4.608 – 6.91 pmol/l
  • Free T4: 0.9 – 1.8 ng/dL
  • FT4: 11.583 – 23.17 pmol/L
  • FT4: 9 – 18 pg/ml
